I did notice that the short article downplays Dewey's sexism - simply saying [h]e founded the first "School of Library Economy" at Columbia University and helped ensure the "feminization" of the new profession by admitting women to its first class." Really he admitted women so that he could create a workforce of educated people whom he did not believe would need to be paid much. Unfortunately his legacy continues.
